Performance Under Pressure: Hoses vs. Loading Arms

Whether top loading or bottom loading tankers or rail cars, the two most popular options in the industry are hose pipes and loading arms. Comparing both hose pipes and loading arms, this paper begins by describing the three categories of hosepipes: Vapor Recovery, Steel Braided and Composite. It explains that compared to hose pipes, loading arms are superior in performance, durable and are capable of handling refrigerated or heated products, liquefied gases, and toxic or corrosive substances. Covering the features of hose arms or handlers, that are used to lift the hose up to the top of a truck or a tank car, so that an operator doesn't have to do it, it states that hoses are the best devices for jobs involving loading and unloading of certain chemicals such as polar and non-polar fluids. It concludes that loading arms make quicker connections, load/unload faster and help in protecting workers and the environment, thus facilitating better throughput for the company.
